Ask not, what you can do for your country

Vielleicht sollte man weniger fragen, 

was man für die Welt tun kann, 

sondern mehr, 

was man tun/lassen kann,

um der Welt nicht zu schaden?

 

Das gleiche gilt nicht nur für die Welt, sondern auch für viele andere Systeme und Gruppen. 

Länder oder Firmen zum Beispiel. 

Einige ach so schlaue Ideen, wie jemand in der Welt „ein Zeichen setzen wollte“ um etwas zu verändern oder besser zu machen, 

sind nicht so glücklich geendet für die Gesamtheit (Kreuzzüge sind dafür doch ein herrliches Beispiel), vielleicht aber für den einzelnen „Ideengeber“.

Maybe we should ask ourselves less, 

what we can do to make the world better; 

but ask more, what we can do or shouldn’t do, 

to not make the world worse.

 

You can use this rule of thumb not only for the world, but also for other systems and groups. 

Countries or Companies for example. 

Some of these great “I know it all” moves, where somebody wanted to set a sign, 

didn’t end as happy as planned for the whole group, maybe for the initiator.
